Founders Award:
This is a new award given occasionally to an individual who had shown a lifelong commitment to the community development field in Oregon. The award recognizes a person who has shown an exemplary and long-term dedication to ensuring that all citizens have access to the housing and services they need to be contributing members of the community.

Jim Tierney
Jim Tierney has been with Community Action Team, serving Clatsop, Columbia and Tillamook Counties, for 22 years. During his tenure, Jim has grown the agency's community development activities to include $5 million in revolving loan funds, $6 million in cumulative weatherization grants, 142 units of affordable rental housing, and 20 units of transitional housing. Jim is a founding Board member of AOCDO and is the only founding Board member who still serves on the Board. He has served as President since 2003.

John VanLandingham
John VanLandingham has been a staff attorney for the Lane County Law and Advocacy Center, a legal-aid type program providing free legal services for low income resident of Lane County, since 1978. John has advocated for affordable housing locally since 1981 and in the state legislature since 1991, where he has become a well known and respected figure. Over the last 25 years John has served on dozens of local government committees for the cities of Eugene and Springfield and for Lane County, including the intergovernmental Housing Policy Board, which he chairs. He is frequently requested as a speaker at affordable housing conferences, sought after as a knowledgeable expert on many aspects of affordable housing, and a tireless advocate for low-income residents and all Oregonians in need of affordable housing.

Outstanding CDO of the Year -Portland Community Reinvestment Initiatives (PCRI)
Community Development Organization of the Year Award recognizes an AOCDO member who has done exemplary work during the past year. Awardees are nominated and selected by their peers. PCRI, located in Northeast Portland, has a mission to "Preserve, expand and manage affordable housing in the City of Portland and provide access to, and advocacy for, services to our residents”. This past year, PCRI has gone above and beyond by acquiring another CDC's entire housing portfolio, which included 310 units of rental housing, AND acquiring another apartment complex with 24 units. Maxine Fitzpatrick also serves on AOCDO's Board of Directors.
Partner of the Year - Enterprise
The Community Development Partner of the Year award is a special award, also nominated and voted for by AOCDO members, is presented to a partnering organization in Oregon. Enterprise plays a pivotal role in community development in Oregon, investing $225 million over the past decade. The Portland office is a leader among Enterprise offices across the nation, providing the support for organizations and projects--making the difference between “go” and “no-go.” They continuously deliver technical assistance and policy advocacy that positively impacts our capacity and provides leadership at both state and local levels. They bring new ideas, continuing inspiration, along with the continuing financial investment to the work of community development organizations in Oregon. It is hard to think of a more deserving partner of the year, or even the decade.
2007 Director's Award - Martha McLennan, Northwest Housing Alternatives
This year AOCDO's Board of Directors wanted to implement a second special award, in addition to the Founders Award, that would come directly from them. The award was to recognize a person or organization who had gone above and beyond for the CD industry in the past year. Martha has been the Executive Director of Northwest Housing Alternatives since 2002 and has more than 20 years experience in the community development field. What stood out about Martha was that she has done incredible work not just for her organization in the past year, but for the community development industry as a whole. She was instrumental in helping put together legislation to clarify when CDCs must pay prevailing wages. She has served on numerous committees and taken a real leadership role in housing preservation.
Who's Who: Future Leader Award
Each AOCDO member was encouraged to nominate a staff person from their organization or a partner organization who deserves special recognition. The theme for this year was Future Leaders.

Maggee Bond, Community Partners for Affordable Housing
With just one full year under her belt at CPAH, Maggie has already had great success planning and implementing after school and summer youth programs. Under her coordination, the youth program continues to grow, and attendance nearly doubled this summer.

Celina Davina, Polk CDC
Celina serves as Polk CDC’s Housing Programs Manager. In three years she has turned a skeleton Resident Services Program into a comprehensive and vibrant program. Celina takes every opportunity to celebrate community at Polk CDC’s housing developments, organizing both learning and fun activities for adults and the children.

Marvin Dean, Portland Community Reinvestment Initiatives (PCRI)
Marvin has been employed at PCRI for 9 years. He started as a landscaper, and has continued to receive promotions and now serves as the Maintenance Supervisor. Marvin goes the extra mile in everything he does and given back to the community by volunteering with many other organizations in the community.

Jennifer Gates, Central City Concern
Jennifer Gates has been part of Central City Concern's housing development team for three years. In that time, Jennifer has grown into her role with enthusiasm and continues to learn and excel. Jennifer is willing to take on any task and has an amazing ability to approach a complex project and break it down into various components.

Matt Holton, Willamette Neighborhood Housing Services
Matt started with Willamette NHS in 2005 to assist with the start-up of the new Linn Benton MicroBusiness Program. Since then he has helped grow the program into a wonderful source of support for low-income entrepreneurs. One of his accomplishments is a new microloan partnership with the Oregon Microenterprise Network and OSU Federal Credit Union.

Mike Masat, REACH Community Development
Mike is the Program Manager for REACH's Community Builders Program. Under his leadership the program has expanded from a neighborhood-based program serving less than 35 elderly and disabled low-income homeowners a year, to a city wide program that completes repairs for over 180 households each year.

Teisha Parchment, ROSE CDC
Teisha has been Resident Assets Coordinator for ROSE since 2005. Some of the many resident programs that she has organized include Shop with a Cop, which builds positive relationships between youth and police officers; ROSEBUD$ , a youth IDA program; and Helping Hands, encouraging ROSE residents to become involved in their communities.

Molly Rogers, Housing Development Center
Molly joined HDC in February 2006 as the Asset Management Program Manager. Through her work at HDC, Molly is directly impacting the long-term viability of affordable housing. Bringing skills and tools together, she works closely with housing owners to better manage properties and keep providing high quality affordable housing, including leading the CDN's Property & Asset Managers Working Group.
